What is Mindfulness Meditation?
Mindfulness is the concept of maintaining our awareness of the present moment. Mindfulness Meditation is the practice of placing our concentration on a single source of stimuli- such as our breath- as a means of anchoring ourselves to the present. Whatever thoughts arise while we concentrate on said stimuli, we simply observe compassionately and without judgement. Returning to the anchor of our breath, we slowly learn to regulate our reactivity to emotional response.
What are the benefits to minfulness? (Personal and Professional)
Regular practitioners of mindfulness meditation can experience heightened personal insight, increased mental fortitude, and greater emotional balance. Personally, this can result in improvements to mood, self-esteem, anxiety management, confidence, concentration, patience, and creativity to name a few. In the workplace this can translate to optimized productivity, morale, efficiency, accountability, conflict-resolution, synergy and far more.

Where are sessions conducted?
While we remain in Covid-19 self-quarantine I am offering 3 FREE 15-minute sessions per client via videoconference. (FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, etc.)
The Waking Bear makes house calls! However, a calm, quiet environment and two chairs are all that is necessary for a session to take place. Session locations can vary from your residence, to a park bench, to a hotel lobby- all based on your comfort level! The wonderful thing about this practice is its versatility, almost any situation can be worked with or accommodated!
What if I've never meditated before?
There are absolutely no requirements for practicing mindfulness meditation. Any level of exposure to meditative practice is welcome- all that is needed is the intention to learn!
Is this a religious practice?
While Mindfulness Meditation can trace its roots to Buddhism, the practice itself is entirely secular. The Waking Bear is committed to teaching this practice without dogma of any kind- however in your personal practice the degree to which you incorporate religion is completely up to you!
